Recently, the discussion about the harmful effects of premature internet access for young people has been on the agenda. In Australia and the United Kingdom, laws have already been published that prevent access to social networks and other types of websites for those under 16 years of age. Several countries, such as Ireland and the USA, are debating similar laws. Recently, the EU is also preparing to make a decision very similar to that of Australia.
Regardless of whether this control is correct or not, the best-known solutions are based on image recognition of the user, which has many false positives and negatives, or by the analysis of identification documents. Both raise serious privacy issues. There are also attempts to use certificates issued by third parties, which may or may not also raise similar problems.
In this session, experts in various aspects of this topic will present their points of view. A debate with those present will follow.
